JMC Tool & Machine Inc. was founded in 1993 by Mr.
Carelas, a tool and die maker with the experience and sales acumen
to win the confidence of a diversified group of large and small companies
in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. Mr. Carelas and his
son Michael produced quality tooling and machined components for a
variety of industries including automotive, textile and electronics.
JMC experienced significant growth from 1993 to 1997 and had the potential
for continued expansion. Mr. Carelas wanted to see the company he
created continue to grow but was ready to slow down and pursue his
dream of moving to Florida. At the time Glenn Berry, Howard Nystrom
and Frank Patkunas who shared a common inspiration to create a leading
North Carolina based precision machining company had formed BNP, Inc.
and were looking for a machining company to acquire. Mr. Carelas
company presented a perfect platform and in September of 1997 BNP,
Inc. acquired all the assets of JMC Tool & Machine Inc. and to
draw on the established name began operating as JMC Tool & Machine
Co.
With the acquisition of JMC, Glenn Berry left his position
as Vice President of Production at a local precision machining company
and took over management of the company and set the pace which has
seen JMC grow from 2 employees operating in 1,000 square feet to 23
